The Conflict Handling Instrument (CHI)
The Conflict Handling Instrument (CHI)™ (pronounced ‘Ch-ee’) is designed to help people learn how to handle interpersonal and mediate inter-Stakeholder conflict in the workplace.
This involves using a unique conflict handling framework that enables people to categorise objetive adn subjective Conflict Triggers, recognise Reactions in themselves and others, consider the Assumptions they making, and to use a conflict handling Process that is RITE, so that an inclusive outcome can be achieved.
From a psychological perspective most people are often unaware of the significant way in which their Personality DNA™ causes them to think, feel and behave during their adult lifetime.
As a consequence people tend to perceive and interpret information (think & feel), and communicate their understanding of their perceptions of reality physically (behave), using psychological ‘lenses’ that colour and bias their public and private life experiences.
What this means in practice is that people will automatically try to make sense of their inner and outer world experiences by looking through the lens of their LEAD Influencer™ preferences; which is what causes them to communicate in a language that their own preferences prefer, but which if different to that of others can often cause miscommunications, misunderstandings and conflict.
In the inter-dependent roles and complex work landscapes people have to navigate today. Strategically the ability to handle conflict effectively is seen as a core organisational competence that contributes towards gaining and maintaining a competitive advantage; but tactically it requires people to develop and deploy advanced conflict handling and mediation skills in their daily practices.
To help people learn about this critical 21st century organisational, team and individual capability the CHI™ booklet is designed to be used in both group Workshop and individual Coaching environments.
In summary the process described in the CHI™ booklet, which is used to facilitate the development of a conflict handling and mediation capability, requires a Facilitator or Coach to help people understand the Conflict TRAP process, namely the Conflict...
