Conflict happens in all types of organisations, irrespective of the maturity and competence of the people who work in them. However the potential for Stakeholder conflict is significantly greater in matrix type structures because of their inherent complexity, ambiguity and use of integrated processes that often cut across ‘functional’ boundaries and behavioural territories which can create ‘hierarchical’ responses resulting from a ‘silo’ mentality or a specialism centric belief system. The maintenance of effective Stakeholder relationships is critical where inter-dependent goals projects or processes rely on Stakeholder support and influence, especially where the challenges of having to work internationally, or remotely or virtually, often across different time zones and different cultural norms, also bring additional opportunities for conflicts to occur.
The Matrix Conflict Handling Workshop provides people with a complete understanding of the causes of ‘Justifiable’ and ‘Unjustifiable’ conflict in the workplace. And, using a range of practical and easy to use tools, people will not only discover how to proactively and positively handle different types of workplace conflict as they occur; but will also learn how to avoid pushing ‘triggers’ that will usually cause a Stakeholder conflict.
People attending the Matrix Conflict Handling Workshop can expect to leave with:
• An understanding of their own conflict handling and other preference strengths and self-limitations
• An appreciation of how to develop their preferences in order to handle conflict more inclusively
• The ability to recognise and proactively handle different type of ‘Justifiable’ and ‘Unjustifiable’ conflict
• The skill to reduce the potential for conflict with and between different types of Stakeholders
• Tools, tips and techniques that will enable them to approach different types of conflict more confidently
