"The ability to effectively develop and maintain a range of short and long term collaborative stakeholder relationships "
The Relationship Intelligence section of The MaCE LDR™ provides people with an understanding of their approach towards influencing Stakeholders in the workplace.
Co-operative relationships are important in any organisation, but collaborative relationships are vital in matrix structures where the the leveraging of a diverse network of Stakeholders can often make the difference between the success or failure of a global or local goal, project, initiative or process at its point of delivery.
This is why MaCE Leaders at every level not only need to know how to gain and maintain effective working relationships so that they can influence other without authority, but need to do so while recognising and respectfully leveraging personality differences that exist between people and by communicating with Stakeholders in their preferred language of rapport.
The 3 Levels that a MaCE Leader can achieve in this Capability Area are Gold, Silver or Bronze...
Leaders at this level are pro-active in seeking opportunities to involve, inform and deepen their relationship with their Stakeholder network and will consistently demonstrate a highly developed set of inter-personal relationship handling skills which enable them to communicate and influence with confidence and authority. A challenge for Leaders at this level is encouraging people to show equally consistent flexibility, adaptability and tolerance when working collaboratively with their Stakeholders towards the achievement of complex and often competing goals, projects, processes or initiatives.
Silver (Developing) Level
Leaders at this level know how their own personality preferences cause them to think, feel and behave differently to their Stakeholders and can identify and influence the preferences of others. A challenge for Leaders at this level is developing a broader network of relationships outside their area or specialism, which enables them to access additional resources when delivering complex, boundary spanning goals, projects, initiatives or processes for the benefit of their key Stakeholders.
Bronze (Learning) Level
Leaders at this level are often unaware of the personality differences that exist between themselves and their Stakeholders and as a result often misunderstand or misinterpret the behaviours of others; or cause unintentional confusion, anxiety, stress or conflict that has a detrimental effect on motivation, morale or performance. A challenge for Leaders at this level is learning how to influence without authority in order to gain and maintain productive and healthy Stakeholder relationships.
