"The ability to strategically and tactically align Stakeholders in order to deliver inter-dependent Goals, Projects, Initiatives or Processes (G-PIPs)"
The Stakeholder Alignment section of The MaCE LDR™ provides people with an understanding of how to align their Stakeholders when delivering inter-dependent goals, projects, processes or initiatives for the benefit of themselves and their organisation.
Stakeholder alignment is the process of clearly identifying different Stakeholders needs and measures of success, reconciling conflicts between different Stakeholder priorities and agendas, so that the expectations of all key Stakeholders can be met.
This is why MaCE Leaders at every level need to understand not only why Goal Alignment only tells people WHAT they have to acheive (i.e. a goal or objective, etc). But a MaCE Leaders also needs to know how Stakeholder Alignment enables people to know HOW goals and objectives will be achieved - and both processes are needed to deliver inter-dependent goals in a matrix.
The 3 Levels that a MaCE Leader can achieve in this Capability Area are Gold, Silver or Bronze...
Leaders at this level can identify conflicts that will impact on Goal and Stakeholder Alignment activities and are pro-active in resolving issues transparently and collaboratively. A challenge for Leaders at this level is in encouraging others to use similarly consistent, structured and inclusive approaches in their Stakeholder management activities, so that conflicts or misalignments are reduced or resolved before they can negatively impact goal delivery, individual or team performance.
Silver (Developing) Level
Leaders at this level know how to analyse and manage different Stakeholder needs and will have developed skill in resolving goal misalignment conflicts. A challenge for Leaders at this level is staying transparent and managing all their Stakeholder relationships inclusively, fairly and effectively so they do not end up prioritising one set of Stakeholders needs over those of others, which can damage relationships, reduce trust and cause unnecessary conflicts to occur.
Bronze (Learning) Level
Leaders at this level are unaware of the need to be pro-active in managing Stakeholders expectations; or are unfamiliar with using Stakeholder analysis & management methods that help them to create Goal Alignment through Stakeholder Alignment. A challenge for Leaders at this level is learning to use different Stakeholder tools, techniques and processes; and realising that while not all Stakeholders needs can always be met - they can always be effectively aligned.
They must bring sides together.
