When working in ambiguous structures, in increasingly challenging cross-process or cross-functional leadership or team roles. The ability to be able to proactively and positively manoeuvre around the political landscape, is a key skill everyone needs to understand and use, in order to be effective when delivering inter-dependent Goals, Projects, Initiatives and Processes (G-PIPs).
Being politically intelligent does not mean simpl;y developing an awareness of the political landscape within complex structures, more specifically it requires the use of behaviours, knowledge and skills to understand which political minefields and agendas to avoid or utilise, while using best practice behaviours and techniques, to inclusively deliver personal or organisational G-PIPs.
Most people when asked for an opinion on the topic of organisational politics usually respond in the negative. A trend reinforced in the majority of books written on the topic, which often suggest manipulative or destructive tactics which are unhelpful and counter-productive. Being politically intelligent actually requires the use of 'positive', and not negative, political behaviours and practices !
If political behaviour is left un-managed, the use of negative political behaviours can have a harmful or debilitating effects not only on individual performance, but also on team and ultimately the organisations performance.
The Political Intelligence Profile (PIP)™ has been specifically designed for use by Facilitation Professionals to assist people at all levels within complex structures to become more politically intelligent. Helping them to use positive political behaviours and techniques not only to become more politically influential, but to stop negative political behaviours wherever they occur.
The 36 item, self report questionnaire enables Trainers to identify political skill levels across two dimensions, namely someone’s degree of 'Goal Alignment' and their level of 'Political Intelligence' ability.
Questionnaire scoring results in a unique profile being created for each individual, together with a range of practical Development Options that helps peopel to increase their own level of political intelligence.
